An accurate protection of people and electrical equipment against leakage currents can be achieved by installing Residual Current Devices (RCDs) which detect an imbalance of the electrical flow and trip assuring indeed protection against earth fault, reducing the risk of death or serious injury and preventing the risk of fire caused by faulty wiring or other appliances.
Surge and lightning protection
Surge Protective Devices are designed to protect against transient surge conditions. Large single surge events, such as lightning, can reach hundreds of thousands of volts and can cause immediate or intermittent equipment failure. However, lightning and utility power anomalies only account for 20% of transient surges. The remaining 80% of surge activity is produced internally.
